Thursday's work session for the Hays City Commission was brief, with just three items, all of which deal with nuisance abatements.
Commissioners heard from Jesse Rohr, public works director, about recommended abatements for the properties at
• 515 E. 11th
• 1716 Douglas Drive
• 231 E. 12th
The property owner on Douglas Drive has also been cited for inoperable vehicles.
Commissioners agreed to move the nuisance abatements forward for a vote at the Sept. 11 meeting, unless progress has been made to clean up the properties.
During comments at the end of the meeting, Mayor Sandy Jacobs called for a discussion at an upcoming work session about potentially changing Fort and Ash Streets from one-way to two-way traffic in light of the upcoming changes in location for Hays Middle School and the new police station/municipal court building.
Commissioners Reese Barrick and Shaun Musil were absent from the work session.
