HAYS, Kan. – The Fort Hays State track and field program picked up three provisional marks Friday, at the FHSU Spring Invite hosted at the FHSU Track and Field Facility in Hays, Kan. Sophomore standout Annabeth Baalmann vaulted her way into another school record. She now holds the record in both indoor and outdoor women's pole vault.
The Tigers finished with four champions on the day, with a plethora of top five finishes. Trevor Medina won the men's 800 meters, completing the event in 1:54.32. Ethan Lang and Aaron Mangan finished close behind for a 1-2-3 Tiger finish.\
Jaycee Vath won the 1,500-meter run, finishing in 4:54.52. Regan Hodsden, junior long-distance runner, finished close behind, in fourth. Maggie Remsberg, representing the Tigers in the women's 100-meter hurdles, finished on top completing the event in 14.84. The Tigers' last winner of the day was senior Addie Berens. She won the women's javelin, throwing 147-11.0 feet, a provisional qualifying mark.
Toby Wahlmeier finished the day off with two new personal bests, one for finishing third in the 100-meter dash and the other for finishing second in the 200-meter dash. Kinley Brown notched a personal best as well in the women's 200 meters, where she finished in third with a time of 24.89. The 1,500-meter men finished 2-3-4 with Ethan Fisher, Jaret Pfizenmaier, and Lucorien Deboest crossing the line in succession.
The Tiger pole vaulters had themselves a day, with Baalmann notching yet another school record to continue her historic sophomore season. Baalmann tops the previous record of 12-8.25 feet that Selam Ball vaulted back in the 2018 outdoor season. On the men's side, Brady Deges finished with a vault of 15-10.25, a new personal best. Kurtis McCormick finished third in the men's pole vault for vaulting 15-4.25.
Keamonie Archie jumped a wind-aided national qualifying mark in the long jump, while Jayme Hargerman (long jump) and Abby Rueschhoff (triple jump) showed out on the women's side by finishing second in their respective events. Freshman Kyreese Groen posted a second-place finish in the triple jump, and finished top five in the long jump.

Following a successful FHSU Spring Invite, the Tigers will embark on separate journeys ahead, with some athletes competing in the Texas Relays in Austin, some at the WashU Distance Carnival in St. Louis, Missouri, and more at the Central Nebraska Challenge in Kearney, Nebraska.
