⛳ Kansas Junior Amateur moves on to final day

HAYS - Wednesday was cut down day at the Kansas Junior Amateur golf tournament at Smoky Hill Country Club. The top-15 in each age division advance to Thursday final round.

Plainville’s Paker Krob shot a 2-under-par 69 Wednesday to move into a tie for seventh-place in the 18-year-old division. He's joined at 6-over by Dodge City’s Davan Smith. Hays High senior Jason Krannawitter just misses the cut. He shot a 77 Wednesday and missed the cut by one stroke.

Braden Hoskins made the cut in the 16-year-old division. The junior-to-be at Hays High shot a 79 Wednesday and was in 14th place at 20-over-par through two rounds. Blake Buckles shot a 101 Wednesday and did not advance.

In the girls’ division, eighth grader-to-be Gianne Clememte of Warren, Ohio,  backs up her opening round 70 with a 3-under 68 Wednesday to move to 4-under. Hays High’s Katie Dinkel shot another 95 and didn’t make the cut.

The tournament wraps up with final round play Thursday. The champion and runner-up in each age group gain automatic spots in next month’s regional at Firekeeper north of Topeka.
