The Kansas Department of Transportation has started field surveys on three bridges along K-9 in Norton and Phillips counties.

In Norton County, the survey will be conducted on the Scull Creek bridge, located about 4 miles east of the K-173 junction. In Phillips County, crews will be surveying near the Crooked Creek and Wolf Creek bridges, located about 3.6 and 7.5 miles east of the Norton County line.

The survey work is necessary to gather information for the detailed design of proposed improvements to replace the bridges. Activities will include the use of survey instruments on the ground to determine locations of existing features within the survey corridor.

Crews will contact property owners or tenants for permission to enter private property, if access is needed. Michael Selley, field survey project manager, will oversee the survey for KDOT.

Persons with questions can contact KDOT public affairs manager Lisa Mussman at 785-874-8107 or [email protected].
