Harlan E. Downing, 61, of Colby, died Thursday, July 23, 2020, at 
Citizens Medical Center, Colby. He was born September 22, 1958, in 
Colby, to Jerry and Lorraine (Miller) Downing. Harlan graduated from 
Atwood High School in 1976 and then studied HVAC and electric at the 
Salina Area Technical College. In 1979 Harlan started farming and did 
this job proudly until his death. Harlan married Mylinda Larsen on 
November 27, 1983, in Colby. 
He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Downing; father-in-law, Dean Larsen and good friend Terry Wendell. 
Harlan is survived by his wife Mylinda; sons, Michael (Crystal) Downing 
and Brian (Callie) Downing; grandchildren, Lovan and Abigail Downing; 
mother, Lorraine Downing; brother, Keith (MaryAnn) Downing; sister, 
Karren Gatlin and mother-in-law, Patricia Larsen. 
Visitation will be 5-7:00 p.m. Monday, July 28, 2020 at Baalmann 
Mortuary, Colby. A private graveside service will take place at Linda 
Cemetery, Rawlins County, KS. Harlan wanted to have his life celebrated.
 Due to COVID, the family will hold this celebration at a later date.
