A couple of spring thunderstorms rumbled through Hays Tuesday night into early morning Wednesday.
The official rainfall amount measured at the K-State Agricultural Center was just shy of a half-inch at 0.49 inches.
That brings the total amount of rain so far in May to 1.83 inches. The average for all of May is 3.34 inches.
So far this year, Hays has received 5.60 inches of moisture. The 154-cumulative average is 7.92 inches by the end of May, leaving a shortage of two and a third inches.
