Winter weather returns to western Kansas today, although it won't be as fierce as the past weekend's blizzard.
The National Weather Service in Dodge City has issued a winter weather advisory through tonight for the region south of Ellis County. It includes as 60% chance of snow and 35 mph wind gusts out of the north.
Ellis County and the surrounding area are in a hazardous weather outlook with a 30% chance of snow through tonight and blustery north wind gusting up to 30 mph.
The hazardous weather outlook for far northwestern Kansas from the National Weather Service in Goodland is calling for brief bands of heavy snow moving through late this morning and early this afternoon. Visibility will be reduced to as low as half a mile due to northwest winds gusting 30-40 mph.
The three-day weather forecast for Hays calls for temperatures in the 30s through Saturday.
