INDIANAPOLIS - The Fort Hays State baseball team is ranked ninth in the latest release of the NCAA Division II Central Region Rankings, announced Wednesday (April 30).
The Tigers were one of 10 teams listed as under consideration last week. This is the first time that the teams have been officially ranked by the regional selection committee.
Fort Hays State has the fourth fewest losses in the region and the rank in the top 25 of all three national polls (ABCA No. 19, D2Baseball No. 23, NCBWA No. 25). However, the Tigers rank seventh in the region in in-region RPI, 11th in KPI and 16th in performance indicator which are all data points looked at by the region committee in addition to head-to-head, win-loss record, strength of schedule, etc.
The Tigers will wrap up the regular season against Rogers State Thursday through Saturday (May 1-3) before traveling to Joplin, Mo. for the 2025 MIAA Baseball Championship Tournament May 7-10.
The eight teams selected to compete in the Central Region Championships, three automatic bids and five at-large picks, will be announced on NCAA.com with a selection show on Sunday, May 11 at 9:30 p.m. CT.
