Public hearings will be held for Hays' draft 2027 budget and to exceed the revenue-neutral rate during this afternoon's city commission meeting.
The revenue neutral rate for tax year 2026 is 23.743 mills as calculated by the Ellis County Clerk. The proposed 2027 budget will require a property tax rate levy exceeding the revenue-neutral rate.
Following the public hearings, commissioners will vote on the budget.
The draft budget is available on the city's website.
In other business, a resolution to accept the final plat of Hess Second Addition will be considered.
The complete Sept. 10 agenda is available here. The meeting begins at 4 p.m. in Hays City Hall.
