ELLIS COUNTY —One person was injured in an accident just before 3:30p.m. Wednesday in Ellis County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2008 Chevy Silverado driven by Michael Anthony Olson, 66, Littleton, Colorado, was westbound on Interstate 70 just west of Yocemento.
The pickup hydroplaned due to heavy rain. The vehicle left the roadway, entered the median and continued westbound in the median. The driver attempted to steer back onto the roadway before striking an overpass guardrail. After impact the pickup's trailer became detached and overturned. The pickup continued westbound in the median, traveled through the guardrail at the overpass and then fell from the overpass and onto 160th Avenue.
EMS transported Olson to HaysMed. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.
