ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - The 20th-ranked Fort Hays State women's cross country team placed third at the 2024 MIAA Championships Saturday, finishing third at the league meet for a second year in a row. The Tigers also had the individual champion for a second consecutive year, with Emily Diercks placing first overall.
The junior traversed the six-kilometer course in 21:30.9, four seconds in front of second place. Jaycee Vath finished seventh in 21:49.6, earning first team All-MIAA status for a second year in a row. Taylor Hoskinson secured honorable mention All-MIAA recognition with a 14th-place finish, crossing the line in 22:11.6.
Emma Weiner and Ashlyn Harbaugh rounded out the Tiger top five with a back-to-back finish in 26th and 27th, respectively, completing the trek in 22:28.3 and 22:28.4.The Tigers were just five points behind second-place Rogers State. Pittsburg State captured the team title with 55 team points.Fort

Hays State will next travel to Joplin, Mo. for the 2024 NCAA DII Central Region Championships on November 9. The women's six-kilometer race is slated to begin at 11:15 a.m.
