The Ellis County Health Department on Wednesday announced nine new positive cases of COVID-19 has been identified since Monday.
The new cases are in isolation, the department said. There are now 27 active cases in Ellis County, with 66 total cases since reporting began.
The department noted the "exponential" increase in coronavirus cases since the Fourth of July holiday.
"If residents continue to gather, we will see cases increase," the department said, noting contacts of the new cases will be identified and contacted.
