GREAT BEND - The Hays High cross country team opened their season Thursday afternoon in Great Bend. The girls finished fourth and the boys were fifth.
Both teams had one medalist. Sophomore Amelia Jaeger placed ninth for the girls with a time of 21:35. Leo Hernandez was 14th for the boys with a time of 18:40.
