๐Ÿ€ Comeback bid falls short for Hays girls versus Life Prep

Saturday afternoon's fourth place game in Colby for Hays High was a rematch with Life Prep Academy. The Indians and the Fire squared off in Hays back in the Gerald Mitchell Shootout in early December.

Hays was scoreless in the first quarter but gave up only eight points through the first eight minutes of the game. The Indians opened up the second quarter with five quick points but never was any closer through the first half, trailing 16-8 at halftime.

Highlights

Life Prep stretched their lead out to ten points early in third quarter before the Hays offense finally found some traction. The Indians went on a 10-2 run closing their deficit down to four with a minute left in the third quarter.

Hays continued the run into the fourth quarter as they took the lead on a pair of free throws at 27-25 with 4:08 left in the game. The lead was short lived as Life Prep scored just thirteen second later to tie the game and took the lead back just eight seconds following that with a steal and layup.

Hays did tie the game one more time with 3:18 remaining on two more free throws at 29 a piece. The Indians made just one of their final seven shots over the final three minutes, falling 40-31.

Hays drops to 3-8 on the year. The will host Pratt on Tuesday.
