Norma Jean DeYoung, 92, passed away on July 23, 2021, at the Redbud Village in Plainville, KS. She was born to Frank and Neva (Reese) Noah on March 1, 1929, in Center, Colorado.

Jean was a lifetime Graham County resident. She attended Palco High School and graduated salutatorian with the class of 1947. She was united in marriage to Milfred DeYoung on August 20, 1947, at the Redline Church of God. The couple was blessed with three children, whom they raised on their Redline farm near Palco. Jean was a proud farm wife. She loved living in the country, making sure her home was well-kept and the family was fed with her delicious homemade meals. She enjoyed singing, playing the piano and playing board games.

Jean was a faith-filled woman who devoted her life to her family and the Lord. She taught Sunday School and Bible School classes for many years, made meals for church events, and was involved in mission work. She was a bright light for anyone that met her. Jean had a welcoming smile, a great sense of humor, and loved to laugh. May her legacy be a reminder for us to live through Christ’s teachings, love one another deeply, and laugh often.

She is survived by her children; Marsha (Dale) Newell of Hays, KS, Phil (Jo) DeYoung of Colby, KS, Debra (Scott) Unrein of Denver, CO; siblings, Kent (Jeanine) Noah of Wichita, KS, and Deanna Melendez of Hays, KS; two grandchildren, Ian and Jules Unrein; and a great-grandchild, Sullivan Dean Unrein.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Neva Noah; husband, Milfred DeYoung; and siblings, Frankie Ruder, LaVina Ferrier, and Barbara Warren.
