James A. Jacobs, 82, of Hays, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2021, with his children at his side. He was born March 26, 1938, to Magdalena (Kisner) and Frank Jacobs. He was a 1955 graduate of St. Joseph Military Academy. He married Virginia Lee (Pfeifer) on August 18, 1972, in Hays.
James (Jake) will be remembered for his love of family, church, golf, and over three decades of service to Hays Medical Center.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving on the U.S S. Forrestal and U.S.S. Ranger.
Survivors include one daughter, Clarine (Shawn); one son, Franciscus Wolfgang; granddaughters, Danielle, Maria and Ella; and extended family (nieces, nephews, and in-laws).
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Virginia Lee on February 19, 2017; his parents; and nine siblings, Bridget, Ben, Barbara, Ann, Helen, Wilma Jean, Jake, Ralph, and Robert.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 PM Monday, January 25, 2021, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph’s Cemetery with military honors courtesy of the Hays VFW Honor Guard.
