HAYS – The Hoxie Indians claimed their fifth straight team championship at the 3-2-1A state tournament in Hays Saturday at Gross Memorial Coliseum.

The Norton girls also claimed their first title in program history in the first year that 3-2-1A was separated from the largest classifications.

The Indians had eight medal winners and four individual champions while racking up 192 team points. Norton was second (146 points) followed by Phillipsburg (106), Atchinson County (91) and Russell (82).

Norton and Southeast of Saline each finished with two individual champions, and Russell, Oakley, Beloit, Phillipsburg, West Franklin, and Douglass each had one champion.

The Norton Lady Jays finished with three champions and six medal winners.

Douglass and Oakley each had two champions, and Smith Center, Whitewater-Remington, Oskaloosa, Hoxie, Stockton, Russell and Hoisington each finished with one title winner.
