πŸ€FHSU Men’s Basketball Team and Seven Individuals Earn NABC Academic Honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Fort Hays State Men's Basketball team and seven of its individuals received NABC academic recognition for the 2021-22 season. FHSU received the Team Academic Excellence Award, holding a team grade point average of 3.218. Geoff Hamperian, Bjarni Jonsson, Jackson Miller, Gabe Pieschl, Jared Vitztum, Devin Walker, and Nyjee Wright were named to the NABC Honors Court.

The NABC Team Academic Excellence Award recognizes men's basketball programs that completed the 2021-22 academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The NABC Honors Court, meanwhile, includes individuals who have reached their junior, senior or graduate student years academically, while holding a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.

Below are the seven individuals on the 2021-22 FHSU Men's Basketball team that earned the distinction, along with their major.

Geoff Hamperian – Health and Human Performance (Exercise Science), Graduate Student

Bjarni Jonsson – Computer Science

Jackson Miller – Agriculture (Agronomy)

Gabe Pieschl – Health and Human Performance (Sport & Exercise Therapy)

Jared Vitztum – Finance, Graduate Student

Devin Walker – Health and Human Performance (Sport & Exercise Therapy)

Nyjee Wright – Health and Human Performance (Fitness Programming/Health Promotion)

"Excellence in the classroom requires hard work and dedication, and the NABC considers it a privilege to honor these deserving student-athletes and the coaches and staff who support them."
