HAYS, Kan. - The FHSU Women's Soccer team picked up their first conference win on Sunday (Oct. 3) by a count of 2-0 against Newman University. The Tigers scored midway through the first half and added another goal in the second to seal their victory. The Tigers improved to 4-3-3 (1-2 MIAA), while the Jets remain winless at 0-7-1 (0-3 MIAA).

The first goal for the Tigers was scored by Amanda Rapudski as she received a pass from Gracen Chaney and made a move on the defender to create some open space to put the ball past the keeper in the 35th minute, her third goal of the season. At halftime the Tigers led 1-0. The Tigers took another shot to the net as Zariah Smith put the ball inside the box for Sullivan Kelly, who shuffled the ball to Jersey Garoutte to chip it in for her first goal of the season. The Tiger defense posted their fifth clean sheet of the season as keeper Deonna Wellbrock added three saves on the day. The Tigers have shut out their opponents in all four wins this season.

The Tigers will be back in action at home this week when they take on Missouri Western at 6 pm on Friday (Oct. 8) and Northwest Missouri State at 1 pm on Sunday (Oct. 10).
