November had been completely dry in Hays until more than an inch of rain fell overnight Thursday.
According to the K-State Agricultural Research Center, Hays received 1.16 inches of rain.
That exceeds the 158-year average of 0.84 inches for the month.
So far Hays has measured 25.79 inches of moisture this year, surpassing the cumulative average of 23.34 inches by the end of November.
The weekend weather forecast call for showers continuing today and again on Sunday, with highs in the upper 50s.
