HAYS, Kan. - Fort Hays State lost to Central Missouri by a score of 4-0 on Friday evening at FHSU Soccer Stadium in Hays. The second half of the match was played in heavy rain conditions. The No. 19 ranked Jennies moved to 7-1 overall on the season and 2-0 in the MIAA, while FHSU moved to 2-5-1 overall and 0-3 in the MIAA.
The Tigers were held to two shots in the match, both in the second half, while facing 19 shots overall. Katie Stoskopf made a season-high nine saves and the Tigers made one team save as well. UCM scored two goals in each half.
Central Missouri took the lead right away as Coryn Jespersen converted 16 seconds into the match off a pass from Aspen Patterson. Mikayla Ernst added another goal in the 33rd minute, working her way around traffic to score from near the top of the box.
Central Missouri added goals in the 48th minute and 85th minute. Kylie Richardson scored off a crossing pass that was punched right to her from a diving Stoskopf in the box. Jespersen picked up an assist on the play. Allie Schroeder scored the final goal off a corner kick set piece, assisted by Richardson and Patterson.
Kristen Wright played all 90 minutes in goal for UCM and made one save off a free kick from Berkley Sparks in the second half.
The Tigers will host Missouri Southern on Sunday (Sept. 27). Kickoff is set for noon at FHSU Soccer Stadium. Five Tiger seniors will be honored following the match.
