INDIANAPOLIS - The Fort Hays State women's basketball team is ranked third in this week's NCAA Division II Central Region rankings, released Wednesday by the NCAA office.

The Tigers picked up two big wins last week, improving to 21-6 overall after wins against a pair of other regionally-ranked teams in Pittsburg State and Missouri Southern.

Fort Hays State is one of six MIAA teams listed amongst the top 10 teams in the region, with the Great American Conference picking up three spots in the ranking and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference garnering one spot.

The top five teams in the region at the end of the season will earn at-large bids into the 2024 NCAA Division II Central Region Championships alongside the three conference tournament champions. Fort Hays State has played in seven of the last nine regional championship tournaments, serving as the top overall seed four times and playing in three regional finals.

The Tigers have played the sixth-toughest schedule in the region, featuring games against six other regionally ranked teams. FHSU has five wins over other teams that are regionally ranked.

Fort Hays State will wrap up the regular season on Friday when the Tigers host Nebraska-Kearney on Senior Night before entering the postseason with the MIAA Championship Tournament next week in Kansas City, Mo.
