The Kansas Department of Transportation has started work on a road construction project in Thomas County.

Crews are first resurfacing the K-186 and K-188 spurs, then will be working on an 8-mile stretch of U.S. 24, starting at the U.S. 83 junction and ending at the Sheridan County line. Traffic in the work zones will be reduced to one lane and directed through by flaggers and a pilot car during daylight hours. Delays up to 15 minutes should be anticipated.

KDOT expects the project to be completed by the end of November, weather permitting.

McCormick Excavation and Paving of Colby is the primary contractor for the nearly $2.1 million project.
