Betty L. Davis, age 90, of Ulysses, Kansas, died Monday, January 31,
2022, at The Ranch House in Garden City, Kansas. She was born December
5, 1931, in Phillips County, Kansas, the daughter of William Theron and
Thelma Louise (Kelly) Wyley.
Betty grew up in Kirwin and graduated high school in 1949. She married
Charles E. “Red” Davis on December 6, 1953, in Ulysses, Kansas. Betty
first worked as a telephone operator and then retired in 1996 from
Gibson’s Discount Center in Ulysses. She loved time spent with her
family, and enjoyed going to the Grant County Senior Center, reading,
working puzzles, crocheting and sewing. Betty was a member of the Bit
& Spur Club with her kids; and a member of the First United
Methodist Church.
Betty is survived by her sons, Jeff Davis of Garden City, Larry Davis
and wife Cindy of Ulysses, and Andy Davis and wife Janet, of Liberal,
Kansas; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and two
great-great-grandchildren.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Red in 1991; son, Troy Davis in 1972; and sister, Irmalee Bowen.
Funeral service will be held Friday, February 4, 2022, at 10:00 AM at
the First United Methodist Church in Ulysses with Reverend Todd Guinn
officiating. Funeral service will be live streamed on Garnand Funeral
Home Face Book page. Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 3, 2022, from 2:00 PM until 8:00
PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. Memorial contributions may be
given to the Grant County Senior Center in care of Garnand Funeral Home,
