GREAT BEND – The Hays High boys track and field team won six events and brought home a fourth straight regional title Thursday, outdistancing second place Goddard by 16 points. The HHS girls had one champ and finished in third place behind Great Bend and Salina Central.
Elijah McCullough won gold medals in the 1600 and the 3200. Kamani Jones won the high jump, Harley Zimmerman the pole vault and Dalton Meyers the javelin. The Indians also won the 4x100 relay.
The girls lone champ was Lynsi Kanek who won the long jump.
The boys qualified eight individuals in 12 events along with the 4x100 relay for next week’s 5A state meet in Wichita. The girls qualified six individuals in nine events along with the 4x100 and 4x100 relays.
