
James Eugene Bryan was born September 29, 1944, in Oberlin, KS to Dale
and Billie (Kathka) Bryan. He passed away November 21, 2021, at the age
of 77.
Jim was born and raised in Oberlin and was a 1962 graduate of the
Decatur Community High School. He served in the Army National Guard
after graduation. Jim married Leanna Black on November 28, 1964. To this
union they had three sons, Bill, Ben, and Rob. In 1964 Jim and Leanna
bought and ran the Bryan Vickers Service Station until 1984. After
selling the station in ‘84 Jim went to work for the United States Postal
Service as a rural mail carrier for 30 years. In his spare time, he
enjoyed fishing, woodworking and collecting lawn ornaments. Jim was an
active member of the Antique Tractor Club.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Dale Bryan; brother, Bob
Bryan and son, Bill Bryan. He is survived by his mom Billie Bryan of
Oberlin, KS; wife Leanna Bryan of Oberlin, KS; children Ben (Keri) of
Oberlin, KS and Rob Bryan of McCook, NE; sisters, Elaine (Merle)
Leatherman of Hutchinson, KS and Donna (Roy) Donner of McCook, NE;
daughter-in-law, Ruth Drummond of Plainville, KS; grandchildren Kelli
Bryan, Dustin Bryan, Nicole Irwin, Lorissa Fast, Savannah Tollefsrud,
and Rose “Peanut” Bryan; many nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.
