Hays Senior Eagles advance to WWF title game

HAYS – The Hays Senior Eagles moved to 4-0 and advanced to Sunday’s championship game of the Wild West Fest Tournament after a 9-0, five inning run-rule win over Russell Saturday evening at Larks Park.

Colby Dreiling and Brady Kreutzer combined on the three-hit shutout. Dreiling made the start and gave up the three hits with two strikeouts and no walks over three innings and picked up the win. Kreutzer pitched the final two innings and didn’t allow a hit with one strikeout and one walk.

The Eagles (16-2) scored six runs in the first then added another the second and two in the third.0

Brock Lummus and Remington Cox both had two hits. Garrett Wellbrock had a hit and drove in three runs. Lummus and Carson Jacobs both had two RBIs.

The Senior Eagles will play Liberal for the championship at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rattlers are 3-1 and defeating Smith Center-2 15-0 and the Hays Junior Eagles 11-1 Saturday.

The Junior Eagles went 1-1 Saturday, edging Smith Center-2 11-9. They went 1-3 in pool play and face Smith Center-2 in the fifth place game at 11 a.m. Sunday.
