MANHATTAN — Eleven students from the College of Health and Human Sciences are being recognized with 2022 fall Outstanding Senior Awards, and one student has been selected to speak at the college's commencement ceremony, held Saturday in Bramlage Coliseum.
This year's Outstanding Senior Award winners were nominated by faculty and staff within each of their respective programs.

The engagement award is given to graduating seniors who have made exemplary contributions that impact the well-being of the community or individuals in the community. The leadership award is given to graduating seniors who have exhibited excellence in leadership; recognized for their contributions to the campus, college, program and professional organizations. The outstanding research/creative activity award is given to graduating seniors whose research or creative activity has made a significant contribution to his or her field of study.
The following students are receiving awards:
Allie Houston, personal financial planning, Americus, is the recipient of a leadership award.
Hannah Musil, human development and family science, Blue Rapids, is the recipient of an engagement award.
Grant Ginther, integrative physiology, Hays, is the recipient of an engagement award.
Averie Brown, kinesiology, Hutchinson, is the recipient of a research/creative inquiry award.
Adalynne Haresnape, kinesiology, Lebanon, is the recipient of a leadership award.
Sophie Hewitt, human development and family science, Lenexa, is the recipient of a leadership award.
Dalton Engle, personal financial planning, Manhattan, is the recipient of an engagement award.
Kari Ellet, communication sciences and disorders, McPherson, is the recipient of a leadership award.
Ruth McCaleb, personal financial planning, Sterling, is the recipient of a research/creative inquiry award.
Ashlyn Zachgo, kinesiology, Wamego, is the recipient of an engagement award.
Brittyn Hipp, integrative physiology, Wichita, is the recipient of a leadership award.
Hewitt also served as the student commencement speaker for the fall 2022 ceremony. She delivered an address at the commencement ceremony on behalf of the graduating class.
