Fort Hays State Men's Basketball takes a three-game win streak into a meeting with Manhattan Christian College on Saturday (Nov. 29) following Thanksgiving. The Tigers are 4-1 overall and continue to receive votes in the NABC national poll. The Thunder enter at 5-2 overall.
Fort Hays State is coming off a 78-61 win over Sterling College on Tuesday. The Tigers led by as many as 27 points before the final margin was 17. Dan Mukuna led the Tigers with 20 points, followed by Kyle Grill with 17 points.
Mukuna leads the Tigers at 19.8 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. He has scored at least 20 points in three-straight games. Kyle Grill is averaging 14.2 points and 6.0 rebounds per game and has scored in double figures in all four home games so far this season. Lucas Hammeke leads the Tigers in assists at 4.4 per game.
This will be the fifth-straight year the Tigers host Manhattan Christian in Hays. FHSU holds a 4-0 record in the series and has scored at least 75 points in all four previous meetings.
The Tigers are right near their scoring defense average from a season ago when they led NCAA Division II at 59.9 points allowed per game. Through five games this season, they are allowing 60.2 per game. For now, it ranks 10th in NCAA Division II.
This will be the last game for FHSU before entering MIAA play next week, when they go on the road to Central Missouri and Washburn.
