KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Fort Hays State Women's Soccer was picked third in the 2024 MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll, released on Friday (Aug. 16). The Tigers tied for third in the MIAA regular season standings last year and went on to make an NCAA Tournament appearance for the second-straight year.
Fort Hays State is coming off a 13-5-3 overall record in 2023. The Tigers have put together a strong 24-8-10 (.690) combined record over Tyson John's first two seasons guiding the program. FHSU has seven of its 10 All-MIAA selections from the 2023 returning, which includes Emily Hutchings, Sullivan Kelly, Allison Worley, Ryan McCabe, Montserrat Diaz, Kintzli Wagner, and Megan Wiman. Hutchings, Kelly, and Worley also received all-region honors.
Washburn, the 2023 MIAA regular season champion and national runner-up, was picked as the favorite this year with nine first-place votes. Central Missouri finished second in the standings last year and is picked in the same spot this year. The Jennies received three first-place votes in the poll.
The conference features 13 teams this year with Pittsburg State entering its inaugural year of women's soccer. The Tigers will play a 12-match conference schedule with one against each school.
