The Environmental Services Director will discuss a proposal for implementing unsecured load fees at the county landfill during the Ellis County Commission meeting at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Justin Craig, Environmental Services director, will discuss unsecured load fees to improve road cleanliness and safety.

This is a continuation of a past discussion. It is not intended to increase landfill revenue but to enhance safety for citizens and employees traveling to the landfill.

United Way and grant support letter

County Administrator Darin Myers will present on multiple topics, including United Way funding and a support letter for the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) grant.

The United Way funding discussion will determine whether the county should allocate $5,000 to support the United Way of Ellis County's Care Council in reviewing nonprofit funding requests.

The city of Hays is continuing its efforts to develop the R9 Ranch in Edwards County and is reapplying for a FEMA BRIC grant to help finance the project.

Other business

Human Resources Manager Jennifer Taylor will present the annual Employee Service Awards program, allowing the commission to recognize county employees for their years of service. Employees from multiple departments will be honored.

Cottonwood Extension District's Executive Director, Jay Harris, will provide an update on the Cottonwood Extension District.
