Betty Mae (King) Householter

Betty Mae (King) Householter, 82, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Friday, October 9, 2020, at the Hutchinson Regional Hospital in Hutchinson, Kansas.

Betty was born May 2, 1938, in Barnard, Kansas, the daughter of Emmett and Anna (Worpel) King.  She grew up in Barnard and graduated from Barnard High School.

Betty was united in marriage to Robert Dean Householter on June 10, 1955 in Barnard.  This union was blessed with three children; Jerrie, Robert and Lea.  They made their home in Barnard; Hastings, Nebraska; Holdredge, Nebraska; Kenesaw, Nebraska, and in 1974 moved to Russell, Kansas.  Robert preceded her in death on September 19, 2005.

Betty was a Sales Clerk for J.C. Penny’s in Russell from 1974 to 1984.  She then worked as a CAN for Wheatland Nursing Center and Gatewood as Assistant Activities Director from 1991 to 2001.  She worked as a long-term Care Worker for SRS and retired as a Senior Companion.  She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and the Trinity Thrift Store.  She also belonged to the Collector’s Club.  She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, square dancing and playing Bridge.  Her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Betty’s surviving family include her two daughters, Jerrie Lynn Parsons (Marty) of Russell, Kansas and Lea Anna Reddig (Doc) of Gorham, Kansas; son, Robert Dean Householdter Jr. of Pratt, Kansas; sister, Beulah Rathbun of Mulvane, Kansas; eight grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert; sisters, Deloris Wallace and Anna Bell King; and grandson Kane Reddig.

Celebration of Betty’s Life will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, October 29, 2020 at the Trinity United Methodist Church of Russell.  A Private burial of ashes will follow at a later date. 

A Memorial has been established with Senior Companion and can be sent in care of the mortuary.  Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
