The rain keeps falling in Hays, and more thunderstorms are in the forecast for the rest of the week.
Hays received 1.12 inches of rain overnight for a total of 6.34 inches for the month of July, according to the K-State Ag Research Center. The average rainfall for July is 3.33 inches.
The latest rainfall put Hays at 15.99 inches of moisture year to date, which is above the average of 14.68 inches expected by the end of July.
Although the potential for severe weather is low today, periods of heavy rainfall will be possible with the strongest storms increasing the potential for localized flooding, according to the National Weather Service.
A chance of rain and thunderstorms is forecast today through Friday. Highs are forecast to be in the low 80s all week with a high forecast of 77 for Friday.
The National Weather Service predicts sunny to partly sunny skies for the weekend with mild temperatures.
