Clara Belle Russ

Clara Belle (Vernon) Russ was born on June 4, 1934, in Norcatur, Kansas, to Alva Guy and Adella Mae (Deeter) Vernon. She went to her eternal home on December 17, 2021, at 1:18 a.m. She was 87 years old.

Clara grew up near Oberlin, KS and attended Vallonia School where she met Richard Russ. They were united in marriage on August 3, 1954. Together they had seven children.

For many years Clara drove a school bus for U.S.D. 294 in Oberlin, Kansas. She and Richard often worked side-by-side doing roofing and construction, farming, and milking their dairy cows. Most importantly, they raised their children together.

Clara’s hobbies included painting portraits and lan dscapes, woodwork and carving and gardening and landscaping in her yard. Clara loved sharing her garden produce with others in the community. She was an active member of the United Church of Oberlin. She was also a member of the Gideons.

Clara is preceded in death by her parents, Alva Guy and Adella Mae (Deeter) Vernon, her husband, Charles Richard Russ. She leaves behind: Della (Jack) Province, Edward (Vivian) Russ, Julie Russ, Starla (Ralf) Meister, Cherie Jane (Darin) Dingus, Charles (Linda) Russ, and Ruth (Jeffrey II) Longhenry, 21 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. She will be missed by all who loved her.
