LASALLE, CO. – The Colorado Roughriders scored five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning and turned a pitcher’s duel into an easy 7-2 win over the Hays Larks Wednesday in LaSalle Colorado.

The Larks were held scoreless through six innings before they loaded the bases with one down in the seventh inning for Matt Cavanagh who drew a bases loaded walk. Two batters later Leo Jiminian scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at two.

With the game tied at two, the first seven hitters that came to the plate in a five-run eighth inning for the Roughriders reached base, five on base hits, as they built a 7-2 lead and got the win.

Larks starter Rustin Hayes allowed just one run on four hits, while striking out four and walking five, but did not factor into the decision.

Reliever Drew Buhr retired the side in order in the seventh but allowed all five runs in the eighth inning and suffered the loss.

Dylan Dreiling had two of Hays’ five hits. The Larks drop to 6-2 and take on the Colorado Sox for the first of two games Thursday evening in LaSalle.
