Low temperatures in northwest Kansas are forecast to drop into the single digits as of this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
Western Kansas has two chances for snow during the next four days, with the strongest chance for snow in Hays on Monday.
Today's high is forecast to be 49, and tonight's low will be 17. Winds are forecast to gust as high as 38 mph.
The high is forecast for 25 on Saturday with a low of 4 and 21 on Sunday also with a low of 4. The high on Monday is forecast for 17 degrees with a low of -4. Hays has a 20% chance of snow before noon on Monday.
Snowfall amounts are expected to be light.
The National Weather Service is warning of prolonged, dangerously cold weather.
Temperatures are expected to be well below freezing for three to four days, with wind chills dropping as low as -30, the weather service said.
"Ensure you have a way to keep warm and check in with friends and family," the weather service said.
