DODGE CITY – Dylan LaRue collected four hits, Trent Baker homered, and the Hays Larks continued their remarkable start to the season with a 15-3 victory over the Dodge City A’s Monday night at Cavalier Field.

Unlike several recent games in which the Larks (13-0, 9-0 RMBL) fell behind early before rallying for the win, Hays took control from the outset. The Larks scored once in the first inning and added four more in the second.

Baker got the offense rolling with a one-out solo home run to left field. Max Flowers later drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, and Rayner Beene capped the inning with a two-out, two-run single.

Both teams scored twice in the third inning, giving Hays a 7-3 advantage.

The Larks added another run in the fifth before breaking the game open with five runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh. The game ended via the run rule after the A’s (8-7-1, 6-5 RMBL) were held scoreless in the bottom of the seventh.

Simon Lunsford improved to 3-0 on the season, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out seven and walking three over five innings. Braden Cox and Jaxon Ramos combined for two scoreless innings of relief to close out the win.

LaRue led the Larks' 13-hit attack with four hits. He, Beene, and Baker each drove in two runs.
