HAYS – The Hays Larks used a pair of three-run innings Saturday
night as they knocked off the Dodge City A’s 9-3 at Larks Park in Hays.
Dodge City scored single runs in the first two innings and built a 2-1 lead heading into the bottom of the fourth inning.
In the fourth, Peyton Ebbing doubled in a pair of runs putting Hays up 3-2 and then Bryson Evans grounded out, scoring another run as the Larks took a 4-2 lead through four innings.
In the bottom of the fifth Tyler LaRue homered with a pair of runners on giving Hays a 7-2 lead.
Garrett Gruell’s two-run seventh inning homerun extended the Larks lead to 9-2.
The A’s got a run back in the eighth before Hays clinched the 9-3 win.
Preston Tabor earned the victory with two shutout innings. He struck out three.
Five Hays pitchers allowed three runs, just one earned.
The Larks are 9-2 and 4-0 in the RMBL.
The Larks travel to Dodge City on Sunday.
