Luba Korobka Holm Brinkman was born on June 17, 1939, in the Ukraine (former USSR).  At the age of 2, she moved to Germany with her family where they spent time in a work camp during World War II.  The family immigrated to the United States when she was 13, where they settled in Newton, KS.  She married Glenn Holm and was blessed with 6 children.  In addition to being a full time mother, she worked at Hehr Windows for 35+ years.  She later married Gerald Brinkman in 1983.

Luba was an avid churchgoer, devoting years of service to the Peabody United Methodist Church and later to the Pathway Church of Wichita.  Luba loved her community, her family and her Lord.  She was a mother and grandmother to all.  She was affectionately known as “little grandma” by her great grandchildren.  Her cooking and baking will certainly be missed, but she will forever be remembered for her famous hugs.  She also enjoyed putting together puzzles with roommate and friend Marie, her boxing classes, listening to Elvis, and spending time with loved ones.   She loved telling others how blessed she was with her friends and family.

Luba arrived in her forever home on November 9, 2021, just in time to celebrate her son George’s 60th birthday.

Luba is survived by daughter Annette (Eric) Ferrell of Denton, TX; daughter Debbie (David) Pusateri of Wichita, KS; son Richard Holm of Peabody, KS; daughter Liz (John) Snelling of Augusta, KS; daughter Traci (Paul) Hines of Wichita, KS; daughter  Lisa (Brian) McDowell of Baldwin City, KS; son James (Janette) Brinkman of Chanute, KS; brother George (Virginia) Korobka of Hays, KS; brother Victor Korobka of Newton, KS; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; dog Bentley, and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by parents Anatoly (Tony) and Anna Korobka; first husband Glenn Holm; second husband Gerald Brinkman; sister and Brother in Law Switlana and Stan Briar; son George Holm; son Frank Brinkman; daughter-in-law Josie Holm; and dog Junior.

Memorial services were held Nov. 13 at Peabody United Methodist Church.

Memorial contributions in Luba’s name may be made to the Peabody United Methodist Church or to Rock Steady Boxing of Wichita, in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
