⚽ FHSU men has three receive CSC academic all-district honors

Fort Hays State Men's Soccer had three members named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team for 2023. This award honors a combination of academic and athletic accomplishments of the individuals selected.

Earning the distinction this year are Jackson Elgas, Callum Frogson, and Tadhg Walsh. They helped FHSU to an 8-8-2 record during the 2023 season. Frogson and Walsh were All-GAC/MIAA selections for a second-straight season.

To be considered for Academic All-District selection, an individual must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, hold a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or better, and compete in 90 percent of the team's contests or start at least 66 percent of contests at the time of nomination. A school can have a maximum of six selections for soccer, so FHSU reached the maximum allowed this year.

Elgas played and started 13 matches this season. He notched two assists for the season, playing 1,063 minutes as a defender. He was an all-conference selection a season ago. Elgas is a Biology major at FHSU and holds a GPA of 3.83.

Frogson is now a two-time All-GAC/MIAA selection, once as a midfielder and once as a defender. He earned first-team honors as a defender this year. He played the full length in 17 of 18 matches this season, notching an assist. He has 14 career points after recording 13 last year as a midfielder. Frogson is a Finance major and holds a GPA of 3.55.

Walsh is also a two-time All-GAC/MIAA selection as a midfielder, including first-team honors this year. He ranked third on the team in points with 11, recording four goals and three assists, along with a game-winning goal.  

Walsh is a Health and Human Performance major and holds a GPA of 3.80.
