
James “Jim” Henry Popp, 85 years old, of Quinter, Ks., passed away on March 2, 2023. Jim was born at home, on the farm, north of Grainfield, Ks. on June 7, 1937. He graduated from Hoxie High School.
Jim was united in marriage to Barbara Louise Gaylord on October 20, 1962. They were married for 60 years. He worked as a farmer on his and Barbara’s farm until retirement. Jim enjoyed woodwork, chainsaw carving, and collecting antiques. He was also actively involved in church and Kiwanis.
Jim Popp is survived by spouse, Barbara, daughter, Garneita Davis & husband Don of Tulsa OK, Daryl Popp and wife Carolyn of Hill City, KS, Yvonne Hackler & husband Bill of WaKeeney, KS. They have 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Jim is also survived by a sister, Dorothy Cunningham of Granville, OH, Mary Beaver & husband Larry of Quinter, KS, Conrad Popp & wife Pam of Quinter, KS, Alberta Bittel & husband JD of Overland Park, KS, and many family, loved ones, and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Albert Jonathan & Mary Mabel Popp (McWilliams), brother Lorrel Popp & wife Ruth, brother David Popp & wife Lynn, daughter Joyce Melinda Popp, and grandson, Levi James Hackler.
Services will be held on March 7, 2023, at 10:00 am at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Services will be conducted by Pastor Gary Simon. Burial will take place immediately after at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
Visitation will be on March 6, 2023, between the hours of 5:00-6:30 pm at Schmitt Funeral Home in Quinter, KS.
