
Jacob “Jake” Frederick Wildeman, 88, of Grainfield, died Thursday, May
20, 2021. He was born April 7, 1933, in Gove County, KS, to Fred and
Dora (Selensky) Wildeman. Jake served in the United States Army from
1957-1958. Upon his return from service Jake worked for Blair
Construction building bridges and managed the Lumber Yard in Grainfield.
After the lumber yard closed Jake started Wildeman Cabinet and Drapery
and did general construction and remodeling. He was proud to have built
his own house, in 1979. Throughout his life Jake also farmed and had
cattle.
Jake married Louise Kaiser on November 19, 1960. To this union, two
daughters were born. Jake enjoyed reading the newspaper and enjoyed all
the daycare kids who passed through their home over the years. Jake was a
member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Herman Wildeman, Leo Wildeman and Delphine Marcotte.
Jake is survived by his wife Louise; daughters Linda (Mike) Augustine,
of Ellis, KS and Diana Wildeman, of Grainfield; granddaughters, Denise
(Troy) Weigel, of Hays and Rebecca Augustine of Hays; Great grandsons,
Masyn and Nolyn Weigel and siblings, Herbert (Jan) Wildeman, of Denver,
CO, Leonard Wildeman, of Quinter and LeRoy (Andrea) Wildeman, of Hoxie.
Visitation is 5-7:00 p.m. Sunday, May 23, 2021, at the St. Agnes
Education Center, in Grainfield. Funeral Mass is 11:00 a.m. Monday, May
24, 2021, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Grainfield, with burial in the
Grainfield Cemetery.
