KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A win in a matchup of ranked teams and a 2-0 start to conference play helped the Fort Hays State men's soccer team move up eight spots to No. 14 in the latest United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II national poll, released Tuesday (Sept. 22) by the coaches organization.
Now 4-1-2 overall, this is the second time the Tigers have been ranked 14th this season after FHSU also held that ranking following the first week of the season. The Tigers have been listed inside the top 25 in all five releases this season and in 20 consecutive polls dating back to October 2024, extending the longest streak in program history.
FHSU defeated then-12th-ranked Rogers State 2-0 to open conference play last Thursday, causing the Hillcats to tumble to 21st in this week's poll. One other conference rival is mentioned in the poll, with Southern Nazarene also receiving votes.
The Tigers are set to continue conference play this week with a pair of matches in Arkansas. The road trip begins against Harding on Thursday (Sept. 24, 7 p.m.) before concluding Saturday at Ouachita Baptist (Sept. 26, 11 a.m.).
