The Kansas Department of Transportation has started a field survey for a proposed project to replace the south fork Smoky Hill River drainage bridge on U.S. 40 in Wallace County.

The bridge is located approximately 5 miles southwest of the Logan County line. Survey activities include the use of survey instruments on the ground to determine locations of existing features within the survey corridor. KDOT expects work to be complete by July 1.

Crews will contact property owners or tenants for permission to enter private property if access is needed. Craig Mattox of Finney and Turnipseed will oversee the survey for KDOT.

Persons with questions may contact KDOT public affairs manager Lisa Mussman at 785-874-8107 or [email protected].
