
James C. Jennings, 82, passed away on November 15, 2021, in Kearney, NE.
He was born on September 29, 1939, in rural Sheridan County to William
and Mamie (Fiala) Jennings.
James grew up on a wheat farm near Dresden, KS and graduated from
DCHS in 1957 and McCook Community College in 1959. James married
Delores (Dimond) Chancellor on July 2, 1960, at the Oberlin Covenant
Church. He then graduated from Gulf Coast Bible College with a
Bachelor of Theology.
His first ministry was in Anthony, KS from 1964 - 1974 and then they
moved to Mountain Grove, MO from 1974 – 1987, then to Littleton, CO
from 1987 – 1997. Then he retired from the ministry and moved back to
Oberlin. He spent several years working in the meat dept at Raye's
Grocery. In his spare time he loved gardening, fishing, and traveling.
James is survived by his sons; Clinton (Cathy) Jennings of
Greenfield, IN and Christopher Jennings of Sparks, NV, daughter;
Christina (Terry) Coalter of Saint Joseph, MO, sisters; Betty Carlton
and Nadean Stoney, grandchildren; Corbin Jennings and Corina Jennings
and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents,
wife, Delores, and brother Lawrence Jennings.
