The Bricks in Downtown Hays
The Bricks in Downtown Hays concludes a month-long celebration of 25 years of downtown connection, community, and growth with a Chamber Chat and Ribbon Cutting on Friday, June 26 at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Birthday Brunch celebration during the Downtown Hays Market on Saturday, June 27 from 7:30 to 11:00 a.m.
The Chamber Chat and Ribbon Cutting will take place at Union Pacific Plaza Pavilion, located at 10th and Main, and will celebrate both the 25th anniversary of The Bricks and the completion of the new concession stand project at the Pavilion.
“This milestone gives us a chance to celebrate not only where Downtown Hays has been, but where it is headed,” said Lee Ann June, Executive Director of The Bricks in Downtown Hays. “The Bricks has always been about community, local business, and creating a downtown that feels active, welcoming, and full of life. We are excited to celebrate 25 years with the people, partners, businesses, volunteers, and supporters who continue to make that possible.”
The new concession stand is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen downtown event infrastructure and create more functional, welcoming spaces for community gatherings. The project was supported through the Brick-by-Brick campaign, which brought together community donors to help make the improvement possible. The project was also awarded $5,000 from the Heartland Community Foundation in 2025.
The celebration will continue Saturday morning with a Birthday Brunch at the Downtown Hays Market. Community members are invited to shop the market, enjoy brunch and birthday-themed offerings, support local vendors, and take part in family-friendly birthday fun on The Bricks.
The Downtown Hays Market is held Saturday mornings at Union Pacific Plaza Pavilion and surrounding area at 10th and Main. The Birthday Brunch will take place during regular market hours from 7:30 to 11:00 a.m.
June has been recognized as Bricks Birthday Month, with downtown businesses and community partners celebrating throughout the month through late-night shopping, music, birthday-themed promotions, special beverages, and activities across Downtown Hays.
The Bricks invites the community to attend both celebrations and help mark 25 years of downtown vibrancy, partnership, and progress.
