HAYS, Kan. — Fort Hays State defeated Rogers State on Thursday by a score of 2-0 at FHSU Soccer Stadium. The No. 22 ranked Tigers ran their win streak to five-straight matches over the No. 12 ranked Hillcats, which dates back to last season. Fort Hays State preserved the clean sheet after withstanding several Rogers State attacking opportunities late.

Rogers St. had the larger first-half shot total, 9-4. Both goalkeepers, Payton Roehrich of FHSU and Tristan Miller of RSU, made two saves in the first half and the match remained scoreless by halftime.

Fort Hays State scored both goals in the second half. A foul just outside the box set up a Juan Linares free kick that found the corner of the net at 50:14. The Tigers picked up their insurance goal on a Mathis Gaultier header in the box off a nice pass from Gregoire Henri at 71:23. Both keepers picked up one save each in the second half and both finished with three for the match.

For Roehrich, it was his second individual shutout of the season in goal. Linares picked up his second goal of the season, while it was the first tally of 2026 for Gaultier.

The physical contest saw 36 total fouls, FHSU leading the count 22-14. Both teams were issued four yellow cards. When the dust settled, RSU held a slight 14-13 advantage in shots, but FHSU had more shots on goal (5-3) and corner kick opportunities (11-8).
