Robert E. Fields, age 80, of Hays, Kansas, died Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at the Good Samaritan Society of Hays.
He was born September 3, 1941, in Colby, Kansas, to Floyd H. and Nina H. (Kersenbrock) Fields. He married Della (Dreiling) on May 11, 1968, at Colby, Kansas.
He worked at the Kansas State Research and Extension Center in Hays for 25 years, and he retired in 2003. Robert grew up on a farm at Colby and was a 1960 graduate of Colby High School. He served in the Kansas National Guard, and attended Saint JosephCatholic Church, Hays.
Survivors include his wife, Della Fields, of the home; his daughter, Melissa Reif, Plainville, KS; His brother, Gary Fields and wife, Janice, North Glenn, CO; his brothers-in-law, Dale Koenig, Colby, KS; Dennis Dreiling, Victoria, KS; his grandchildren, Samantha Reif, Justin Reif, and Abby Reif.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Don; and his sister, Betty Koenig.
A celebration of Life service will be at 10:30 A.M. Friday, March 4, 2022, at Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary of Hays, 1919 East 22 Street, Hays, Kansas 67601 with Father Richard Daise officiating.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Friday, at the mortuary.
