JoAn H. (Knutson) Olson

JoAn H. (Knutson) Olson, formerly of Bottineau, ND passed away April 20, 2022, at Reeds Cove Health and Rehabilitation, Wichita, KS.

She was born September 23, 1942, in Richardton, ND to parents, Walter and Erna (Rasch) Knutson of Halliday, ND. When JoAn was 5 years old, her family moved to McKenzie, ND. She received her education at McKenzie Grade School, and then Bismarck High School.

On November 26, 1960, she married Paul W. Olson of Bottineau, ND, where they farmed and raised their five children. In 1983, they sold their farm and bought the KOA Kampground in WaKeeney, KS where they enjoyed hosting campers for 4 1⁄2 years. They sold the campground and moved back to Bottineau, then to Bismarck, ND. Upon retirement, they moved to Stockton, KS.

JoAn was involved in several community organizations and activities in the Lutheran and Methodist churches she attended. She worked in numerous retail businesses and several secretarial positions. JoAn loved her family, enjoyed music, sewing, meeting and getting to know people, and enjoying God’s great outdoors.

She is greatly missed by:  her three sons, Robert (Tammy) Olson of Bottineau, ND, Michael (Brenda) Olson of McGregor, ND, and Timothy (Patricia) Olson of Colorado Springs, CO; two daughters, Kathleen (Kevin) Clark of Hutchinson, KS, and Paulette (Mark) Wildeman of Ellis, KS; seven grandchildren, Nicole (Jeff) Mattheyer, Kristin Friesen (Adam Taylor), Dylan (Tyler) Clark, Tylor Olson, Miranda (Caleb) Engeman, Hannah Wildeman, and Josh Olson; brother, Rodney (Deanne) Knutson of McKenzie, ND; sister-in-law, Barb Knutson of McKenzie, ND; brother-in-law, Donald (Inez) Olson of Fargo, ND; great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by:  her husband, Paul Olson; brother, Gordon Knutson; parents, Walter and Erna (Rasch) Knutson; and baby sister, Kathryn Knutson.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service and burial will be held in Bottineau, ND at a later date.
