
Frederick Joseph (Fred) Huser passed away on December 7, 2025, at age 78. At the time of his death, Fred was living in Ft. Collins, Colorado.
Fred was born on January 30, 1947, in Hays, Kansas to Joseph Frederick and Evelyn (Jacobs) Huser. Fred grew up attending Catholic schools in Hays, Kansas and graduated from St. Joseph Military Academy in 1965. He enlisted in the Air Force and served four years. In 1968 he was united in marriage to Barbara Jurich, a union to whom three children were born. Fred graduated from Fort Hays State in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business. Fred worked for over twenty-five years for Southwestern Bell (now AT&T) in Wichita, St. Louis, Mexico City and Dallas.
Fred enjoyed volunteering for Habitat for Humanity after his retirement in 2001. For three summers, he chaperoned mission trips with the Appalachia Service Project, providing home renovation and mentoring youth in serving communities in need. Fred will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his constant willingness to help others, the kindness he shared with those close to him, and his positive and caring attitude toward all he met
. Survivors include his wife, Rhonda Hubbard Huser, of the home, children Fred Huser (Jennifer), Teresa Huser (Michael Milam) and Katherine Huser and their mother Barbara Jurich Huser all of Plano, Texas. Other survivors include grandchildren Molly Huser Rohrer (Dane), Brennan Huser, Jordan Gibbs, Jacie Gibbs, and Mickey Haver, and one great-grandchild, Nina Mae Rohrer. He is also survived by his sister Marie Wasinger (William) of Hays, Kansas, and brother Bernard Huser (Marilyn) of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Barbara Huser Spaccamonti and Paula Huser.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 15, 2025 at at St. Joseph Catholic Church - Hays. Interment with military honors courtesy of the Hays VFW Honor Guard will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM and Monday 9:00 AM - 9:30 AM all at Keithley Funeral Homes and Crematory-Brock's Chapel 2509 Vine Street Hays, Kansas 67601. A combined parish vigil and rosary service will be at 7:00 PM Sunday at Brock's Chapel.
